We headed north in hopes of finding some humpbacks. I was hoping they were still vocalizing like the night before. They sounded beautiful last evening on the Lime Kiln hydrophone.

A pair of Humpback whales were in San Juan channel. I put the hydrophone down but did not hear anything but ambient noise.  We then spent some time watching their graceful movements for a while.

Then we went exploring for more whales and hopefully some Orca in Haro Strait. No orca sightings though. I pointed out some Stellar Sea Lions and the exotic animals of Spieden Island. For seabirds, we had Bald Eagles and Harlequin Ducks.

The humpbacks were calling our name.  So back to watch the pair of Humpback Whales down off of Friday Harbor until it was time to head in.  The water was calm and a pretty nice day watching the Humpbacks in San Juan Channel.

Check out another day with blue skies and many humpbacks. Some days we get to see an amazing sight. That is when 40 tons of whale leaps out of the water and comes crashing down. The is the size and weight of a loaded semi-truck. It sounds like thunder when they fall back.
