What a beautiful day. We saw many whales today. It was a long day, seeing J-Pod Humpbacks and Ts. We started off heading for a pair of Humpbacks south of San Juan Island and saw them, but they were not fluking. Meaning we could not ID them. They had been breaching before we arrived but not much since we got there.
We then headed up to see J27 Blackberry and L87 Onyx. After that, we headed inshore and saw a few more J Pod whales until time to head back.
On the second tour, we headed north for calmer waters but still had some choppy seas to deal with and saw more J Pod including J26 Mike and J17’s and J16’s.
On the third tour, we saw another pair of Humpbacks Heather and Raptor. Then we were off to see a pod of Transient Killer Whales aka Biggs Killer Whales. This pod is known as the T46’s.
What a beautiful day. It was so good to see J-Pod Humpbacks and Ts. We had some rough water in the morning, but we avoided the 6′ to 8′ seas in the Strait of Juan de Fuca in the evening.
