Today we see the Biggs T46s, T137s, and J Pod. Spirit of Orca and a couple other Friday Harbor boats made a run for Canada. We are giving our Southern Resident Killer Whales some relief with a few fewer boats on the scene.
We were able to see some amazing Biggs Killer Whales on the morning tour. I shared my introduction to Canadian Bald Eagles. Some Canada Geese came flying by our boat low and close.
In the afternoon we were able to see J Pod whales including J27 Blackberry, J26 Mike, J31 Tsuchi dragging kelp with her dorsal fin and honorary J Pod member L87 Onyx plus a bunch more, foraging and catching salmon.
There is a nice run of Sockeye running now and fish are everywhere at the moment. We still desperately need Chinook salmon but it is nice to see the whales here and feeding.
Today is day six for Tahlequah carrying her baby girl. I understand she let go last night, breached three times then did a deep dive to bring her back to the surface. She is still not ready to let go.
I got a series of an eagle in flight that was cool and I tried but failed to get a pic of a Harbor Porpoise, they are so fast and elusive.
Seeing the Biggs T46s, T137s, and J Pod was a good day.
