Today’s tour is Monarch, J Pod, Sashimi
We saw Bald Eagles including several immature ones.
A Harbor Seal having just caught a sockeye salmon. He was ripping chunks out of it to eat. Others were wanting him to share but he was not sharing. He was devouring chunk by chunk of the freshest sashimi ever.
More viewing of the Humpback. Later, members of J Pod Killer Whales competing with the commercial fishermen. The orca will rob seine nets for salmon if they can.
J27 Blackberry was cruising around. So was J26 Mike among others including one of the calves.
We heard that J35 Tahlequah was still carrying her calf and this is now day 17. This cannot be a good indicator of her mental health. Not to mention her physical health. There is fear we may be losing her too.
Washington and British Columbia have got to wake up fast or all our Southern Resident Killer Whales are going to be dying off of starvation.
It is time to quit blaming whale watchers for their demise. We need to own up to the fact that we have all failed by messing with their food supply.
