Today we saw some Harbor Seals and Stellar Sea Lions. Bald Eagles and A Great Blue Heron too, on the way to see J Pod.

We saw a couple breaches as we were approaching but by the time we got close J26 Mike was swimming along offshore of most of the group in our area. We maintained our distance off him and were not able to tell who was inside of us.

Eventually, we broke off and idled our way further offshore to J Pod at Salmon Bank. SoundWatch was monitoring J50 Scarlet in her ailing condition. We stayed clear of her. A few glimpses of her from a distance but not close enough for camera shots.

NOAA asked that we give her extra space. She was lagging behind her pod at least a half mile. She is 3 years old she looks like a 6 month to one year old and it is doubtful that she will live much longer. Efforts are being made to try and help her survive.  J Pod at Salmon Bank Breaching

On the way back in we saw a few Black Oyster Catchers and an Eagles Nest.  Follow us on Facebook to stay updated on Scarlet’s health.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text] [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
