Today I had to make an early morning run at 0645 to Sidney to pick up some parts. On the way back I had time to scout and was scanning for whales. I was able to come upon a pod of 5 whales.

I stayed with them until WDFW showed up and warded off a fast approaching vessel. My camera grabbed a couple of shots of WDFW (Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife). They stopped a fast vessel and stayed dead in the water until the whales passed by.

Back at the dock I picked up my first tour and spent more time with the whales. We saw Harbor Seals and Stellar Sea Lions. On the way out I discovered a scientific buoy of some kind on Salmon Bank and scanned for Minke Whales but did not see any.

The afternoon tour we started towards the whales and saw some wildlife before approaching the whales. That is an effort to minimize the number of vessels at a time. To allow a few boats to depart.

There were River Otters on Spieden Island as well as Fallow Deer, Sika Deer, and Mouflon Sheep. Bald Eagles and Blue Herons.

Then we headed off to see the whales. On the way back we had some Harbor Porpoise “porpoising” in our wake which is totally unheard of.

There is not a more shy animal than the harbor porpoise. A lot of pics today but hoping you enjoy T90’s, T87, WDFW Protecting Our Whales[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Spirit of Orca 20180908 55 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 56 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 54 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 53 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 57 1 Spirit of Orca 20180908 52 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 51 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 50 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 49 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 48 1 Spirit of Orca 20180908 47 2Spirit of Orca 20180908 46 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 45 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 44 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 43 Spirit of Orca 20180908 42Spirit of Orca 20180908 41Spirit of Orca 20180908 40Spirit of Orca 20180908 39Spirit of Orca 20180908 38 Spirit of Orca 20180908 37Spirit of Orca 20180908 36Spirit of Orca 20180908 35Spirit of Orca 20180908 34Spirit of Orca 20180908 33 Spirit of Orca 20180908 32Spirit of Orca 20180908 31 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 30 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 29 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 28 1 Spirit of Orca 20180908 27 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 26 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 25 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 24 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 23 1 Spirit of Orca 20180908 22 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 21 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 20 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 19 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 18 1 Spirit of Orca 20180908 17 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 16 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 15 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 14 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 13 1 Spirit of Orca 20180908 12 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 11 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 10 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 9 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 8 1 Spirit of Orca 20180908 7 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 6 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 5 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 4 1Spirit of Orca 20180908 3 1[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
