Southern Resident Killer Whales held our attention today. Seeing K Pod and L Pod Whales among other Wildlife. We saw a number of animals including Harbor Seals, Stellar Sea Lions, Bald Eagles, and other seabirds.  Then we were off to see the Southern Residents.

We spent time with K pod and L pod Whales today. I did not see any J pod.  I did hear some on the hydrophone after dropping it into the water. It is pretty cool to be able to drop a hydrophone in the water and listen.  The boat just sits quiet and we are listening to the whales carry on a conversation with each other.

K21 Mega was seen from a distance. He was closer to shore than we go. We saw K25 Scoter who has a huge scar on his right dorsal fin from being Geo-Tagged by NOAA. This is the same type of tag that killed L95 Nigel two years ago.

We saw quite a few K Pod and L Pod whales and other Wildlife. The whales were mostly feeding and searching for salmon, no spectacular breach shots today however it was still very nice being with them on the water.

When they are searching for their food, we call that foraging.  That is my favorite time to view them. We can leave the boat shut down and just enjoy the view.
