A very nice day on the Salish Sea with the Biggs T49A’s Killer Whales. T49A1 is a big male with that very tall, 6′, and broad dorsal fin.
We arrived on the scene after they had devoured a Stellar Sea Lion. That is the full meal deal. Stellars reach upwards of 2500 lbs compared to a Harbor Seal averaging 60 lbs which I refer to as Orca Sausages.
There is a young calf in this pod and a few shots of him breaking the surface are included.
A couple of shots of Mount Baker including one with Patos Island Lighthouse.
A few bird shots including Rhinoceros Auklet, Common Murre, and gulls. A few Stellar Sea Lion Shots and Bald Eagle and Harbor Seals.
It was a bit of a haul today to be with the Biggs T49A’s Killer Whales but it was worth the trip and for the most part, the waters were calm.
On the way back we took a different route. I went through Jorgenson Pass and came down Plumper Sound hoping to see a Humpback whale or more Killer Whales.
