Huge versus Tiny
A very hot day on the water today. I was sweating even in the straits. I took my guests north into Canada to see a pair of Humpback whales that were feeding.
We headed straight there and saw a few flukes. In one of the pics if you look carefully ahead of the blowhole is the top of the whales head. The bumps you see on his/her head are hair follicles.
Only one of the whales was fluking and hoping I can ID this whale before posting this blog.
I also caught a picture of the smallest thing I have ever photographed with my zoom lens, a Krill, maybe an inch long.
We saw quite a few Stellar Sea Lions, some in the water and some on the rocks. I also shot a few pics of Bonaparte Gulls that put on a great areal show for us.
A couple of shots of a high flying bald eagle. some shots of exotic mouflon ewe and lamb on Spieden Island.
From tiny to huge, A pair of huge Humpbacks to a tiny Krill.
The mouflon we saw was a mama and her lamb. She was making her way down to the seaweed at low water for nutrients. She picked her way down the rock ledge. Her lamb was not quite following in her steps and got to a point where she knew it was a bad choice with a huge distance for a jump. She smartly backed up and picked a less treacherous path to mama.
