Honeymoon in the San Juan Islands
Today we took a honeymooning couple out to see Orca. A reservation had been made and the groom’s dad called and made arrangements for it to be a Private Charter to make it more special. For this charter, we headed for T65A2 Orca and Cousins heading for East Sound Orcas Island.
It was raining and chilly this morning. Because of the rain, we held off on going out for a couple of hours waiting for the rain to quit. It has been beautiful here for weeks and we really needed the rain. However, it made for a chilly day out on the water with some fog and mist still hanging on.
Ghost Ship
I experimented with one shot of a Washington State Ferry that looks like a ghost ship in the fog.
We were viewing the T65B’s and T65A2 the nephew and cousin to the T65B’s. The calf is about a year old and has a bit of extra energy in her surfacings.
Harbor Seal for a Snack
A seal kill took place while we were viewing them but nothing graphic or gory today that Killer Whales tend to create. They just ate their snack and started moving on again. We followed them almost all the way up into East Sound before breaking off and heading back.
I shot a few pics of a Bald Eagle and a Great Blue Heron. I love the Heron. We used to have them in our fields stalking mice, gophers, and snakes. No matter where we saw one we always called him George.
I would love to have had some warmer weather today for our honeymooners. Still, it was great to be on the water seeing the visiting male T65A2 orca and cousins with his aunt T65B.
