We had another tour today with return guests from prior tours. They brought along some grandkids that were excited to see the orca. I think they might have even been more excited to see the Harbor Seal mama’s with their new born pups. Our main viewing today was the Orca Pods T65As & T77s.
We were on our way to see two pods of in Rosario Strait. In route we stopped to see Rhinoceros Auklet, Bald Eagles, Harbor Seals, and Black Oystercatchers. Then we made our way slowly in to see the Orca. There is a young calf in the T65A’s and an adult male T77B among this grouping of whales.
They had just reversed course, now traveling north. There were several changes in direction while we were viewing them and they were mostly in travel mode.
On the way back more Harbor Seals with pups and Bald Eagles.
Our second tour was much of the same. Seeing some of the sea birds along the way. We caught up with them up near Blaine and could see the tall buildings of Vancouver BC. On arrival, they were doing a lot of course changes and milling around.
At one point there were about seven boats in the area spread out and all shut down observing the whales milling and a little playful. They kept popping up in different places. Then at one point they started porpoising towards two that had wandered off to the east of us. That gave a couple of us opportunity to work our way out of the area to head home.
Hope you enjoy seeing the pics of the Orca Pods T65As & T77s and other marine life from todays tours.
