I started out heading south searching for Orca and making a few stops on the way. Our tour ended up viewing north and south. We saw some Harbor Seals with young ones, also known as Orca sausages. A couple Bald Eagles, including a fly by I captured from a distance. There is also a Pigeon Gullemott doing a fly by and several Tufted Puffin.
A male Orca will eat about 300 lbs of meat a day. A female will eat about 200 lbs of meat a day. Harbor Seals weigh about 60 lbs, California Sea Lions weigh about 600 lbs, and Stellar Sea Lions weigh up to 2500 lbs. Watch my video clip on the FAQs page to see Orca celebrating after a Stellar Sea Lion kill, doing what I call their happy dance.
We were almost on scene with a Gray Whale in the Strait of Juan de Fuca when the UHF radio shared that the T65As were up in Georgia Strait. I back tracked going right by Friday Harbor on the way to the Orca. I was asked if I was really going all the way up to the T65As. It ended up being a longer than normal tour but I had four ladies that had to see Orca. So, we viewed north and south seeing marine life in both areas as we continued on.
