I had to cancel a tour this weekend due to high winds. Sunday I took the boat out for a couple hours, not a real tour but still went looking where the weather allowed. There were Humpback Whales to the west but the water was too rough to get there.
I captured a few birds including a new one to me. They are one of the 172 species of Sea Birds we have here in the Salish Sea. Other birds seen were Red-Necked Grebe, Cormorant with its emerald eye showing, Surf Scoters and more. I made my way into Griffin Bay to try to find Loon but no luck.
A few of the exotics on Spieden Island including one of the albino Fallow Deer. Also seen were Sika Deer, at least one anyway mixed in with the bunch of Fallow Deer. There were plenty of Mouflon Sheep too, including many of the mature rams. It won’t be long and we will start seeing a bunch of lambs running around.
