J Pod Saved The Day -Pinnipeds Birds Lost T's

I started out looking for a pod of Bigg’s Orca believed to be the T46s from previous days sightings. It was J Pod Saved The Day for us though.

We saw Bald Eagles, Black Oystercatchers, Harbor Seals, Steller Sea Lions, and more.

I scanned Rosario three times when I learned a single whale had been spotted around the corner from us. I made my way over, and it ended up being J Pod of our Southern Resident Killer Whales.

We saw J26 Mike, J27 Blackberry, J46 Star, J22 Oreo, J38 Cookie, J42 Echo, J19 Sachi, J35 Tahlequah, J31 Tsuchi, and her calf J56 Tofino, during our time with them. A few others I could not ID from the shots I took.

During the last few minutes viewing, they had all bunched up together as if they had found a school of salmon and were milling.

As we were departing, I tried to get a shot of Tofino, but it didn’t happen. J35 Tahlequah did give us a tail wave as if saying goodbye.
