Smoky Waters & Killer Whales was the story today. A lot of my pictures appear to be Black and White today lacking color from the sun being blotted out.
We started off viewing the T123s up in Georgia Strait. While there a Common Loon swam by and allowed us a few photos before taking off. Then we headed towards Sucia Island where another pod had been located. On the way, we stopped to see some Steller Sea Lions.
Now we were with the T65Bs. One of my pics has a boat flying by. This is one reason it is important for us to be out there, especially with the Southern Resident Killer Whales. We try to warn all incoming boats, especially the fast ones that whales are present. Today I used the air horn on two vessels. One stopped and figured things out before proceeding in a different direction while the other very much heard me but continued on without a care.
We saw both pod making several kills today with porpoise and harbor seals. A steller sea lion was chased for a bit but they passed him up.
I got several sea birds today including Killdeer, Black Turnstone, and a Common Loon.
