Great Blue Heron and Steller Sea Lions were some of the highlights today. The morning tour was canceled due to low visibility of 50 to 100 yards. This mainly from the smoke but we also had fog.
For the afternoon tour, it varied from a quarter-mile to a mile of visibility and I am sure played a part in none of the boats being able to locate whales. The Southern Resident Killer Whales were located up off of Vancouver and a couple of Humpback Whales located west of Victoria but none of the USA boats located any species of whale which makes for a disappointing day. Still, we did see the Steller Sea Lions playing in the water and most sleeping on the rocks. There were also Black Oystercatchers and a glimpse of Red-necked Phalarope in passing.
