On the two tours today, we saw minke whales and orcas, the T75Bs. Our first stop was at the rocks to see Ottis, the sea otter, eating green sea urchins.
We stopped off to see a pair of marbled currents. This little bird is endangered. They fish here and fly about fifty miles inshore to get to their nest. They will only nest in old-growth forests, and not much old-growth is left.
Then we viewed a minke whale going after bail balls of fish. One of my passengers was doing a report on minke whales. On the way back, we saw tufted puffins but no sign of the horned puffins for us.
On the afternoon tour, we headed north and viewed the T75B pod. Then, we saw more marine life, harbor seals, stellar sea lions, and more birds.
“The Sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
