However, we did see whales. We had Humpback, Minke, Tufted Puffin, and much more. Before we left San Juan Channel, we stopped off to see some Harbor Seals that ended up not being there. However, we did see some Black Oystercatchers.

At Whale Rocks, there were a dozen or so Stellar Sea Lions. The tide was rushing in with a lot of turbulence that you can see in some of the photos.

There was a Humpback Whale known as “Scrappy.”  A couple of Minke Whales. The Minke is the second smallest baleen whale in the world next to the Pigmy Right Whale.

This pic of the Minke Whale has boats in the background. The course our Minke was taking led us right back to an intersecting course with Scratchy the humpback.

After viewing the whales for a bit, we wandered off to see some Tufted Puffin. My better lens is in the shop, and I wished for it today, but still, a few pics turned out ok.

Other seabirds I captured were the Rhinoceros Auklet including one on a log. I don’t recall seeing an Auklet on a log before. He looked a little awkward sitting on that log.

We stopped by to look at a Bald Eagle and the nest he or she and its partner share.

It was good to see Humpback, Minke, Tufted Puffin and so much more marine life today. The seas were also very nice and flat with calm seas in some places.
