There were Humpbacks and Orca Pod around today. Several Humpbacks around today in different locations. We were with three whales up in the Strait of Georgia. Short dives and plenty of fluking. A couple of shots of the blowholes of one of the Humpbacks.
Gales were building in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, so we went north. Later a pod of orca had been spotted and were making their way up into Haro Strait. The water was choppy, and it was slow going but not like what was happening down south of us.
We had a few looks at the T10’s pod of Orca as they moved up Haro Strait finishing the day with Humpbacks and Orca Pod both seen and photographed.
The humpbacks were zig-zagging in multiple directions but also spending quite a bit of time on the surface to is easy to see them. On the way to Haro Strait for the Orca, we passed through Johns Pass. We had flat water from there until we were south of Henry Island then the rough stuff started up.
Once on scene with the orca, they had killed a seal or porpoise or both maybe. They had something and both porpoise and seal were in their path. The killer whales we saw included a big male orca T10C a 20-year-old who was born in 1999.
