Humpback Whale & Gray Whale
The weather was rough down south yet again today, and after last night I wanted no part of it. I decided to go north to locate a Humpback Whale that seen earlier. Today we saw a Humpback Whale & Gray Whale a couple of times.
Divot
The humpback whale is one known to us as Divot. I do not know the ID of the Gray Whale. There seemed to be a second whale in the area, but we could never see both on the surface at the same time. We also viewed Bald Eagles, Harbor Seals, Rhinoceros Auklet, and Pigeon Guillemot. A lot of the Harbor Seals are sporting brand new baby seal pups. We are right in the middle of the pupping season. One of the Bald Eagles was on a branch of a dead tree, and I did not notice at the time, but it is by an owl nest or some birds nest.
I had a third tour this evening going out to see the Gray Whale for a bit. It had made its way up to Pender Island, and we viewed it, making its way toward Bedwell Harbor, but we did not follow it into the harbor. We then moved on into Johns Pass, seeing the kids at ‘Camp Norwester’ Youth Camp sitting around a campfire.
We cruised along the shore of Spieden Island, viewing the exotic critters of Sika Deer, Mouflon Sheep, and Fallow Deer.
It was the second day now with no orca around, but we were able to see a Humpback Whale & Gray Whale on our tours today which are beautiful in their ways.
Floatplanes are busy
I waited on four floatplanes today. I tried to let a pleasure boater know that he needed to move the boat over so the plane could take off, but he didn’t grasp it. On the last tour, I spotted an Egg Yolk Jellyfish and showed my guests and included a pic of it here.
