I am just a little bit excited to have my first tour with the new lens. The lighting was dark today with fog and drizzling rain but I still enjoyed the lens as I captured Biggs Orca Killing Stellar Sea Lions.
We spent some time searching for a pod that had been spotted early. When one of the boats found them, we headed straight there. Just as we arrived on the scene, they began chasing a Stellar Sea Lion. They wounded it, and I believe eventually it died, but they did not eat it. They just moved on and chased a couple of other animals.
We were watching the T49A’s. The big male is T49A1, and his youngest sibling is T49A5, a female who was born in 2017 and is two years old already. When they were pouncing on the sea lion, even the calf was pouncing. I kept looking for a burst of blood, but it did not come. There were Stellar Sea Lions swimming all over the place today.
Earlier, we had seen a couple of Bald Eagles. In passing, I saw Egrets, Bonaparte gull, pigeon guillemots, and more.
