To start with I am including a pic of our moon last night, a Supermoon. Nothing to do with whale tour today but it was beautiul and wanted to share.
We left the harbor and saw some Harbor Seals, aka Orca Sausages, then some bald eagles and Stellar Sea Lions. One of them yawned with very wide open mouth. It reminded me of the dentist office “Say Ahhh”, “oooh we have some work to do on these teeth.”
A bald eagle was posing for us on one of the rocks and a beautiful pose it was. We saw a few other seabirds including some seagulls going nuts over a baitball. There were bald eagles diving into the fray as well but my CF memory card chose that moment to act up, so I missed their dive bombing for the fish.
I started using my Nikon 500 prime a while back which I love but the down side is I cannot zoom back. The pic of Race Rocks lighthouse is a great example, barely got it in the frame. Same with the Dall’s Porpoise. I did not get any pics of it but I will post a link here so you can view a pretty cool view of the porpoise darting in and around my bow.
I am including a few shots looking back at the Olympic Mountains. It was a beautiful day, we just did not see any whales. We did see Cetacians (Porpoise) but no whales.
A picture of one of my guests holding this seasons first mylar balloon. Unfortunately there will be many more.
