Today was one of those rare days when we do not see any whales. It would not have been the case if it were not for the pandemic keeping the larger whale watch boats off the water. When we all head out and begin searching we are most often successful at finding whales.
Today it was just me as in the past couple days when I was able to be with whales but today that was not the case.
We did have a very pleasant cruise in the Salish Sea though. I took us up through San Juan channel then west through Spieden Channel where a Humpback Whale had been reported. I went East, West, and North of reported location but he must have traveled south in Haro Strait, the one area I did not search.
We saw Harbor Porpoise, Bald Eagles, Stellar Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, Exotic Mouflon Sheep, and Rhinoceros Auklet. I did not realize until on the computer that I also caught Fallow Deer in my lens. Look behind the Mouflon Sheep and you will see a couple of deer with white spots. Those are the Fallow Deer.
I was such a beautiful day, all that was missing were the whales.
