Today, we witnessed the brutal side of nature and bald eagles. Two days ago, we stopped by Low Island and saw a Canada goose sitting on her nest. Today, a pair of bald eagles killed the mated pair of Canada Geese, and in one of the shots, I saw they had raided the eggs, too. At first, I thought they had gotten the goslings, but looking at the pictures, I see that it is the adult pair and their eggs. Later on, we saw a bald eagle feasting on a mouflon sheep carcass.
Then, we continued on to see harbor seals and stellar sea lions before meeting up with the T100 pod of Orca in Haro Strait. While watching them, another pod popped up near Anacortes. We caught up with the T36 pod near Sinclair Island north of Anacortes. We left them as they traveled north, heading towards Hale Passage.
“The Sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
