We spent our time today with the T49As, with Mom needing quiet time, or “me time”. T49A herself was alone for just shy of about an hour that we were there observing her. She made two seal kills that we saw, while the kids were on the other side of the small island we were watching them at. Eventualy the kids joined her and they started traveling north again.
We enjoyed her presence and she seemed to be enjoying her time without the kids and killing a couple of seals for herself.
We also saw Ottis, the sea otter, harbor seals and stellar sea lions, black oystercatchers, bald eagles, an egg-yolk jellyfish, and more.
“The Sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
Jacques Cousteau
