T46s near Race Rocks
We saw the T46s near Race Rocks today. We were on our way to see the T35As but I spotted another pod as we were approaching. We had a glimpse of the T35As but opted to spend time with the T46s including two large males T46D and T446E. My first glimpse from a distance I thought it might be T63 Chainsaw, but it was T46D with not as pronounced notches in the fin.
Yesterday, there were 5′ seas and high winds. I rescheduled for today, and it was a beautiful day. Flat, calm waters all the way out west of Victoria to Race Rocks and back again. We also saw several humpback whales on the way and took a few minutes to view one on the way back. A Canadian Navy Ship was doing some kind of maneuvers while we were over there.
