J’s, K’s, L’s plus Heather and Raptor Humpbacks. We started out the day with advance notice we would be able to see a pair of Humpback Whales known as Heather and Raptor and then members of all three pods of our Southern Resident Killer Whales.
Harbor porpoise and harbor seals were at the start of our tour. They were in the immediate area of a pair of Humpback Whales. We watched them for a bit then headed off to see our Resident Killer Whales.
The Resident Orca were pretty widespread and they were chatting up a storm with some vocals that I shared with my guests by putting my hydrophone in the water and listening to their vocals.
I noticed NOAA was out there again and could not tell what they were up to. At one point I thought they had a crossbow and were going to geotag more whales like they did when they killed L95 Nigel but after looking at my pics at home I saw it was some kind of scientific equipment but not sure what. They were not tagging whales as they were last week and I will post pics every time I see them harassing the whales. They were right on top of them today but at least not tagging them.
It was a gorgeous afternoon with beautiful September weather. This is my favorite time of year to be out on the water with them. J’s, K’s, L’s plus Heather and Raptor Humpbacks, very nice day indeed.
