J-Pod, Tufted Puffin, Stellar’s and it started off with seeing Harbor Seals. The J Pod whales were widespread in Rosario Strait. Some of who we saw were J27 Blackberry, J17 Princess Angeline, and her calf J53 Kiki. A bit further on J37 Hy’Shqa, J41 Eclipse, and her calf J51 Nova. J38 Cookie brother to DoubleStuf. J26 Mike was there too. There was a Tribal fishing vessel pursuing Mike taking pics.  Viewing from a distance is fine but pursuing them in their path is not legal.

We left the whales for a while to go see some Tufted Puffin that was nearby. There were not many around, in fact, the first one I saw from a distance and photographed was not a puffin. It was a Scoter, another very colorful bird. I grabbed a shot of some Harlequin Ducks standing on a patch of kelp. We did finally see a couple Puffin.

Then back to the J-Pod, Tufted Puffin, Stellar’s.

I had a killer shot of a salmon leaping out of the water. A whale leaping out after it, unfortunately, it was not in focus. Maybe next time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text] [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
