Today was T99B’s, Exotic CA137 & CA040 T’s Killer Whales plus two Humpbacks. I had guests that really wanted to see Orca so we skipped the Humpbacks. A known find of Humpback Whales was close by but we opted to search for Orca.
That was an awesome choice as it turns out. I was able to pick up the only Orca in our area that is the T99B’s. With them, a couple exotics CA137 the big male & CA040. A couple of California whales that are not normally seen in our area.
We were able to see them on both tours. On the second tour, a pair of Humpbacks were located nearby so we went by to see them as well. I recognized one of the whales with the lopped off dorsal fin as Crater, the other I did not recognize at all.
We also saw Harbor Seals, Bald Eagles, Rhinoceros Auklet and a few other Salish Sea Critters.
After seeing the Humpbacks we headed back towards Friday Harbor and caught up with the Biggs Killer Whales. They were about to enter Friday Harbor itself. They ducked inside the harbor. They made their way over by the University of Washington Marine Labs and then back out of the harbor to continuing north.
Several seal kills today, including one last one right at the entrance to Friday Harbor. No seals flying through the air or bloody meat to show but several pounces and sharing meat amongst themselves. WOW
T99B’s, Exotic CA137 & CA040 T’s Killer Whales plus two Humpbacks was a pretty decent day.
