Today we began scanning for orca as we left the harbor on our way north. We headed towards a pair of Humpback Whales. The day included Heather, Raptor, Biggs Orca and much more.
We did not see any Orca on the way up, but we did see a new seal pup its mom nursing. We also saw A Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagles, and Black Oyster Catchers.
Once on scene with the Humpbacks, I was able to ID one of the whales right away as Heather, someone else ID’d the other as Raptor.
We stayed a while since it took us so long to get up there off of Galleano Island. On the way back the Biggs Orca pods 124A’s and 36A’s were spotted, and we stopped off to see them for a bit.
This tour was way longer than usual, but my guests were up for it. We made it back to the harbor right at 4 1/2 hours after seeing Heather, Raptor, Biggs Orca. I was expecting some pretty choppy water, but it was not a bad water day at all.
