Could not ask for better weather
What an awesome day on the water. Biggs, Humpback, and Porpoise rule the day. The forecast called for rain and be pretty choppy seas. However it was a flat water day with no wind. The rain held off completely until we were back at the harbor. This is late October so it is a bit chilly but man did we see the marine life today.
We were viewing “Orca Sausages” aka Harbor Seals. I shot a few pics of
birds including Bald Eagles, Pacific Common Murre and Cormorants. We saw Stellar Sea Lions at East Point. I was about to make a pretty good haul north to view some Humpbacks but there were Biggs Killer Whales spotted close by.
Lot’s of Biggs Killer Whales
We started off viewing the T123s, T38As and T35As all traveling together. The big male is 18 year old T123A. One of the Females T38A has a odd birthmark on the left side of her dorsal fin, it looks like an aft facing spaceship.
A couple kills took place today but nothing bloody and gory. Seagulls hover overhead to pick up bits of left over blubber from the seal kills.
We then made our way over to see a Humpback that was close by. While waiting for it to surface a pod of Dalls Porpoise were playfully porpoising along with us and some off of another boat. Another view of the Humpback whale then we started back for the harbor. We saw yet another pod of Orca, the T65As to see on our return trip.
A very nice day on the water and my guests were happy to be seeing so much marine life in the wild. Biggs, Humpback, and Porpoise and many birds were viewed. A very smooth ride back to the harbor. We stayed dry until we got back to the dock.
