A tugboat had moved out of the traffic lanes to avoid a pod of Orca in Rosario Strait.

We left the dock in search of them as did most other boats but Rosario Strait was socked in with fog.

We went north into Canadian waters, crisscrossing paths with other whale watchers. There was no sign of the Orca. In the fog, they could have gone in any direction without our knowing.

On the second tour, the fog was mostly gone, we went south this time and saw some Stellar Sea Lions. One sporting a nasty set of wounds on his chest, and a Harbor Seal pup nursing from mom.

Seabirds included Tufted Puffin, Auklet, Bald Eagles, Blue Heron. We saw a Minke Whale in route to the Gray, but no sign of Orca.

One of the pics is of a Bald Eagle posing in the humiliation stance of drying his feathers so he can fly again.

On the third tour, I knew we pretty much were not going to see Orca but we did head towards Deception Pass and onward for Camano Island where we saw a beautiful Gray Whale who was fanning hollows in the shallows and feeding on ghost shrimp. A beautiful sunset on our way home.

No orca today but with the Gray Whale and Minke Whale, it was still pretty nice.
